Thank you for taking part in the HE Skills Map Project which aims to help adults:

  • Assess how their current experience, skills and achievements match to some of the skills described in the standards used at Level 3 and Level 4.
  • Develop the self-confidence and self-belief to progress to higher education level study in the future.

The results you have received show how your experiences and skills match to some of the key skills, standard descriptions and levels used in pre-higher education and higher education.

The levels and qualifications used in higher education can be viewed in the Progression Planner.

Your results from the HE Skills Map project show a match between your current performance and the levels and standards used in pre and higher education. However, you cannot use these results to confirm your current level of performance is at a level recognised within higher education in an official way, as there has not been official verification.

Using your Results

You can use your results as follows:

In your workplace and when applying for new work opportunities:

You can use what you have learnt from the HE Skills Map Project to promote yourself on applications and interviews. You can do this by describing your performance using the HE Skills Map words and by providing evidence to back up your claims, as discussed and recorded through the guidance interview.

When exploring opportunities within higher education:

You can use your results to help you explore an appropriate level with which to start, this could be at a pre higher education or higher education level.

When applying for a higher education level course:

You can use what you have learnt from the He Skills Map Project to promote yourself on applications, personal statements and interviews. You can do this by describing yourself using the HE Skills Map words and by providing evidence to back up your claims, as discussed and recorded through the guidance interview.
